Professor Perry Hobson is currently the Director of the Academy of Tourism at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) in The Netherlands. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Oxford Brookes University in the UK, a Masters from the University of Massachusetts in the USA, and completed his PhD at Southern Cross University in Australia. Over the years he has held senior management positions in relation to tourism and hospitality education, as well as global engagement. He moved to Taylor's University in Malaysia in 2011, and then as their Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement he developed their Global Strategic Plan, grew their international partner network and led the initiative to improve their QS rankings. He then moved into a similar role at Sunway University in Malaysia, where he was also involved in their School of Hospitality & Service Management. Professor Hobson has also been active in many professional associations, the Editor-in-Chief of the SSCI-indexed Journal of Vacation Marketing for over 22 years, a Board member of The International Centre of Excellence in Hospitality & Tourism Education (THE-ICE) accreditation body since its inception.
Professor Perry Hobson is a past-President of ApacCHRIE; a lifetime Fellow of CAUTHE, the Council of Australasian Universities for Tourism & Hospitality Education in Australia and an Honorary Fellow of CHME, the Council for Hospitality Management Education in the UK.
